We are all still wondering when the iPhone will be released in Canada by Rogers. We know it's coming, the question remains when it will be here. I hope Steve Jobs makes that announcement on June 9th at the WWDC. Hopefully he announces the 3G iPhone then too.
I saw an Article from the National Post which gives a speculation of a date range, not a specific date. It's quotes RBC Capital Analyst Mike Abramsky as saying the iPhone should be released in the 3rd quarter of this year here in Canada. That would be sometime between July and September. This guy has made predictions in the past about the iPhone, including saying that it could be announced for Canada at the Macworld Conference in January. He has also made predictions about how many iPhones will be sold this year and about the SDK and how blackberry maker RIM will be affected.
Here's a quote from the article:
"As to exactly when the iPhone will be available in Canada, Mr. Abramsky estimates it will arrive in the third quarter of this year. At 10% the size of the U.S. market, more than 300,000 iPhones could be sold in Canada later when they become available."

There's a word I have heard online that I like to use in these cases that I think applies to any Canadian speculator on iPhone dates and rates: flailing!
No one knows anything beyond the initial Rogers statement, so any kind of guess of when the launch date will be just just that- a guess.
Though it makes little sense to me from Rogers perspective why they would want to wait until the fall to launch the iPhone, the narrowest we can get it down to right now is "From the date of the US launch to mid-November". And I say mid-Nov because that's typically the cut-off date for Holiday releases.
Anything more than this... and it's flailing!
I'm thinking that an announcement will be made soon, maybe June 9th, and a date will be set for the fall. They need time to get the hype up like what happened in the States. As if there is not enough hype already. I'm excited about the Canadian release but right now I'm fine with my iPhone. Although I would like a good data plan. We keep hearing rumors almost every day, rarely does one come true.
I don't think they'll be waiting on hype. There's only two reasons I can imagine that Rogers can/will have to hold for an August date.
1. Rogers may be launching a competing product and need to leave room between big releases
2. In June, iPhone production may be just ramping up, so in the first few months iPhones may not be available for all regions as the initial launch markets like US are sure to strain the supply chain.
Excellent points. Rogers should be releasing the LG Vu in May although I think no one will care since the iPhone is on its way. Apple will probably concentrate on the US for the 3G iPhone at first. Hopefully they are stockpiling it though so we wont have to wait.
